How Domain Auctions Work
Standard auctions, reverse auctions, and everything in between. Two powerful formats to buy and sell domain names on the DomainUI platform.
Key Features
Built for serious domain traders with the tools you need.
Buy Now Option
Sellers can set a Buy Now price for instant purchase. Skip the bidding and secure the domain immediately.
Anti-Sniping Protection
Bids placed in the final 5 minutes automatically extend the auction. No more last-second sniping.
Built-in Messaging
Communicate directly with buyers or sellers through our secure messaging system. No need to share personal details until you're ready.
Second Chance
Domains that don't sell at auction become available in the Second Chance section where buyers can contact the owner directly.
AI Category Matching
Our AI analyses your domain name and automatically suggests the best category — saving you time and improving discoverability.
Flexible Duration
Choose auction lengths of 1, 3, 7, or 14 days. Short auctions create urgency, longer ones give maximum exposure.
Auction Types
Two auction formats, four ways to list. Choose what works for your domain.
How Reverse Auctions Work
A reverse auction flips the traditional model. Instead of bidding up, the price drops over time until someone buys.
Seller Sets the Terms
The seller chooses a start price (the high point), a floor price (the lowest it can go), a drop amount (how much it falls each time), and a drop interval (how often it falls).
Price Drops Automatically
Once approved, the price starts at the top and drops by the set amount at each interval. A live countdown on the auction page shows exactly when the next drop happens.
First Buyer Wins
There's no bidding against other buyers. When you see a price you're happy with, click Buy Now and the domain is yours instantly at that price. Hesitate and someone else may grab it first.
Floor Price Protection
The price will never drop below the seller's floor price. If no one buys before the auction ends, the domain moves to Second Chance where buyers can contact the seller directly.
Example: How a Reverse Auction Plays Out
A seller lists premium-brand.co.uk as a reverse auction:
If a buyer clicks Buy when the price is at £400, they pay £400. If they wait, the price drops further — but another buyer might grab it first. That's the tension that makes reverse auctions work.
Ways to List
Four routes to get your domain into an auction.
Standard via Marketplace
Submit through the marketplace account page. Set starting price, Buy Now, duration, and payment methods. Goes live after admin review.
Reverse via Marketplace
Submit a reverse auction through the same form. Set start price, floor price, drop amount, and drop interval. Goes live after admin review.
Lander-Triggered
Enable auction on your domain lander page. A visitor registers, places the first bid, and the auction starts live — all in one click.
Direct from Portfolio
Toggle "Send to Auction" on any domain in your landers dashboard. It auto-creates a listing using your Min Offer price.
